CONNECTING CREATIVE CAPITAL
Starting in April 2013 until June 2016, Paul A Dennis has organised a monthly event in the centre of Hull for a wide range of it’s creative people. People who are passionate about their work and hope to benefit in all sorts of ways from the UK City of Culture spotlight.
Called #Creative1Hull, it is currently having a break but hopes to be back with a new regular monthly night very soon!
PAD STUDIOS is a converted two story, bonding warehouse that sits by the side of the River Hull, in High Street, Hull’s oldest commercial trading area. Now becoming a growing Creative Industries Quarter. It is the creative base for gatherings, art events and even a regular Thursday night figure drawing group (see: #FigureDrawingHull).

Its central theme is “Share yourself”. Exploring how a creative life, idea, service or project has greater potential for success in an online world. Informed by this monthly meeting of creative minds “offline”.
This is a chance to share or promote your skills, services or projects. Followed by a very informal and hopefully useful chat with those in attendance on the night.
Be warned, you may have your portrait sketched, be propositioned by an Investor or asked to audition for a play!

With positive developments locally such as the Hull UK City of Culture 2017, Digital Initiatives, Arts & Cultural Festivals, the next few years provide fertile ground for the “Creative Industries” to grow in the heart of Hull.
Creative 1 looks inwardly at how to encourage and develop local creative ideas and talent, and outwardly at the wider online world for business growth. HULL HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD AT THAT!
